Let’s collaborate!
Events in the Kendall/MIT Open Space are co-created in collaboration with our team, and are free and open to the public.
We’re actively seeking community groups and organizations in Cambridge, Kendall Square, and MIT to co-create programming with us. Our team will brainstorm with you, coordinate the event in advance, provide day-of staffing, support the budget (as available), and will help promote.
We take this hands-on approach to our public programs so we can be sure we’re fulfilling our mission to create an accessible, active, and welcoming space for the Cambridge, MIT, and Kendall Square communities.
Public programs are booked 3-6 months in advance. We organize events in the Kendall/MIT Open Space as well as the MIT Welcome Center. Check out our calendar of public programs here to get a sense of what we’re up to, and contact us at openspace@mit.edu to start a conversation!

Informal Gatherings
Small, informal gatherings of fewer than 20 people are welcome in the Kendall/MIT Open Space.
Guidelines:
No reservations or approvals are necessary, as long as you’re not planning on having amplification, alcohol, additional furniture or equipment, signage, set up, or vending.
Feel free to use the tables and chairs already in the space - and if you move outdoor furniture around, we appreciate you moving it back when you’re done.
Keep in mind that quiet hours are from 10pm to 7am.
Be sure to share the space - other groups may also be gathering informally at the same time.
It’s always a good idea to check out our calendar to get a sense of what events are programmed and if the space will be available for your gathering.
Additionally, please be sure to check out these general guidelines for the Kendall/MIT Open Space.
